Craven Community Chorus invites you to an inspiring afternoon of choral music, reflection, and community at If Music Be the Food of Love. This year’s program features Requiem for the Living by Dan Forrest, a powerful and deeply moving work that offers comfort, hope, and peace for the living. As Forrest himself shares, “the work is a prayer for rest (‘Requiem’) for the living, as much as for the deceased… a ‘grant US rest,’ even more than a ‘grant THEM rest.’”
In addition to this breathtaking work, the program will feature a blend of beloved favorites from our 40-year history, spanning powerful choral classics, moving theatrical highlights, and a vibrant patriotic tribute celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. Together, these selections create an afternoon that is both deeply meaningful and joyfully uplifting.
As we lift our voices in choral music, we also lift up those in our community who face food insecurity. Together, we can make a real difference.
In partnership with RCS Food Bank, 100% of every donation goes directly to provide meals and essential resources to families in need. Your gift helps ensure no one in our community goes hungry and supports those working to keep their households nourished and thriving.
Thank you for helping us offer hope, sustenance, and support to our neighbors in need. Please continue to keep our community in your thoughts and hearts as we come together to give through music and giving.
Help us support our neighbors in need by donating non-perishable food items. We gladly accept canned goods, cereal, jelly, pasta & sauce, peanut butter, ramen, rice, and soup. We welcome #10 cans for our Community Kitchen!

Founded in 1985, Craven Community Chorus shares the joy of choral music through diverse community performances and collaboration. We welcome singers of all backgrounds, with no audition required, and present two concert series each year, including a festive Christmas concert at the Orringer Auditorium on the campus of Craven Community College, where we also engage with Christmas kids in our programs.

We welcomed the Down East Dulcimers for some pre-concert music.

"And when we find ourselves in the place just right
‘Twill be in the valley of love and delight. "

"And as long as the music is strong and clear
We'll know that tomorrow will always be free."
